Do the rules of PSYPACT apply for sessions held on Headway?
What is PSYPACT?
PSYPACT is an interstate compact designed to allow licensed psychologists to conduct telehealth and temporary in-person face-to-face sessions across state boundaries legally and ethically without that individual having to become licensed in every state to practice.
Do the rules of PSYPACT apply for sessions held on Headway?
Our agreements are not compatible with PSYPACT because we can't attest to a provider's credentialing status in other states. Based on Headway's payer agreements, providers are required to be credentialed in the state that they're seeing patients in.
Who am I able to see through Headway?
On the Headway platform, you can see clients who meet the following criteria:
- Have an in-network insurance plan for an insurance carrier you are credentialed through Headway with AND
- Are currently residing in the state that you are credentialed through headway in
What if my client lives in a different state, but is commuting to the state that I'm credentialed in through Headway?
Clients must be have a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan if they reside in a different state and are commuting to the state where you're credentialed for sessions.
Clients with HMO, POS, or EPO plans must be residing in the same state that you are credentialed in.
If you choose to see a client through Headway who is commuting to the state you're credentialed in, you are affirming that you are acting under the above understanding.
Note
Washington, D.C. is considered its own credentialing region. Because of this, providers credentialed in Washington, D.C. are only able to see clients based out of that region.
Can I be credentialed in multiple states, and see clients in multiple states through Headway that way?
At this time, we are unable to support cross-credentialing providers in multiple states—even if they are licensed in multiple states.
We ask that you please refrain from seeing clients outside of the state that you are credentialed with through Headway as to not impact claim submissions.
